Casa da Arquitectura (CA) is partnering with the Ministry of Environment and Energy to develop the design and construction strategy for the Portuguese Pavilion at the 30th United Nations Climate Change Conference.

On November 20th, at 6:30 PM, the Nollegiu del Poblenou Bookstore in Barcelona will host a presentation and discussion about the publication of the Luís Ferreira Alves Prize | 2025 Edition.

The digital book ‘Cities, Architecture and Archives in the Ibero-American Context’ is available for free download on the Casa da Arquitectura website. The work, launched on 24 October at the close of the 7th Meeting on Cities, Architecture and Archives in the Ibero-American Context, is coordinated by Paulo Batista and Paulo Tormenta Pinto and brings together seven articles by eight authors from Portugal, Spain and Brazil.

The Casa da Arquitectura will be present at the 1st Iberian Meeting on Education through Architecture, organised by the Official Association of Architects of Galicia (COAG) on 7, 8 and 9 November.

The Old Town Hall, in Porto Cathedral, will host a final guided tour of the Luis Ferreira Alves (LFA) Award exhibition – International Photography Competition “A Contemporary Look at Architecture” on Saturday, 8 November, at 11:30 a.m. The exhibition will remain open until 30 November. The session, open to the general public, will begin at 11:30 a.m. and last approximately one hour.

Between 20 and 31 October, Casa da Arquitectura will host the exhibition ‘Sala 2.4’, showcasing work by students from the Architecture and Urbanism Course at Universidade Lusófona do Porto.

Announcement of the Winner of the 21st Fernando Távora Prize Takes Place on October 20 in Matosinhos 

Casa da Arquitectura is pleased to announce the IV Meeting of the Education Through Architecture (EPA) Network, an initiative that brings together and highlights national and international projects exploring the relationship between education, architecture, and the built environment.

On World Architecture Day, 6 October, Casa da Arquitectura in Matosinhos will host the International Conference ‘The Value of Architecture in Society’, organised by the Order of Architects in partnership with the Architects' Council of Europe.

Construyendo Paisajes is the title of the series of conferences organised by Espaço de Arquitectura on 23 and 24 September, at 9 p.m., in Lisbon and Porto, whose guest studio is the winner of the prestigious 2017 Pritzker Architecture Prize, RCR Arquitectes.

The Casa da Arquitectura – Portuguese Centre for Architecture has selected the 10 researchers who will benefit from the 2025 Scholarships, from a total of 24 applications received.

The selected projects cover different themes and periods in the history of architecture, focusing on names such as Louis Kahn, Mies van der Rohe, Eduardo Souto de Moura and Paulo Mendes da Rocha, as well as research on Brazilian architecture, national identity and the relationship between physical and digital space.

 

 Registration for the seminar launching the 8th edition of the National Wood Architecture Award (PNAM'25) is about to close.

This seminar will take place on 16 September at the Order of Architects – Northern Regional Section, under the theme ‘Architecture in Wood: Sustainable Innovation’.

On 14 September at 6 p.m., Casa da Arquitectura – Portuguese Centre for Architecture will screen the film The Albanian Calls, directed by Anneke Abhelakh & Konstanty Konopinski. The screening is free and open to the public, with seating limited to 100 places.

After the screening, there will be a conversation with the director and some of the architects involved in the project.

On 12 September, the Old Town Hall in Porto hosted the official awards ceremony, the opening of the exhibition and the launch of the publication of the 1st edition of the Luis Ferreira Alves International Photography Award, of which Casa da Arquitectura is a strategic partner.

Casa da Arquitectura opens its doors to a new project rooted in the values of innovation, memory, and sustainability. Semfim, now located at Store 5 in Matosinhos, introduces a concept that goes beyond the idea of a traditional shop: a space where consumption becomes reflection, and where objects regain meaning.

The catalogue "O que faz falta" - 50 Years of Portuguese Architecture in Democracy has been distinguished by the jury of the 2025 Book Design Award, promoted by the Directorate-General for Books, Archives and Libraries (DGLAB). The publication was selected to be part of the set of 20 Portuguese books that will represent the country in the international competition Best Book Design From All Over the World 2026, organized by the Buchkunst Foundation in Germany, one of the most prestigious institutions dedicated to the appreciation and promotion of editorial design worldwide.

 Casa da Arquitectura – Portuguese Centre for Architecture, in partnership with Sesc São Paulo, is promoting the launch of the catalogue Geografias Construídas – Paulo Mendes da Rocha, the most comprehensive publication dedicated to the architect since the donation of his collection to the Portuguese institution in 2019.

There is less than a month left until the deadline for applications for the Fernando Távora Award, which annually recognises the best proposal for a research trip in architecture, with a grant of €6,000. The deadline for submitting applications is 11 August.

Casa da Arquitectura – Portuguese Centre for Architecture will be present at the 23rd edition of the Paraty International Literary Festival (FLIP), which will host the presentation of the book ‘Geografias Construídas: Paulo Mendes da Rocha’ (Constructed Geographies: Paulo Mendes da Rocha) on 1 August at 12 noon at Casa da Cultura. The book pays tribute to one of the most important architects in modern Brazilian history. 

 Open House Porto (OHP) celebrated its tenth anniversary last weekend, 5 and 6 July, with a very special edition that attracted 21,044 visitors.

Casa da Arquitectura is one of the 28 founding organisations of ENNO - Energias do Norte, a Renewable Energy Community (REC) promoted by LIPOR and its Associated Municipalities. 

The agreement aims to establish forms of collaboration for the ‘Routes of the North’ project, namely the ‘Contemporary Art and Architecture in the North’ route.

Casa da Arquitectura and the Public Archive of the Federal District of Brasilia signed an agreement yesterday to share the digital collection of Lucio Costa, the urban planner responsible for Brasilia's Pilot Plan.  

Applications for the Luis Ferreira Alves | A Contemporary Look at Architecture International Photography Competition are open until 25 April. This biannual competition aims to pay tribute to the legacy of the nationally and internationally recognised photographer of excellence, whose work has spanned the transition from analogue to digital and whose collection has been deposited at Casa da Arquitectura since November 2021.
